It's not delivery..its Tirosh's!

My dad is awesome and feeds to our cooking needs. He built us an authentic wood burning brick pizza oven! At first I thought it was pointless and that we would get no use out if it, but when I came back from studying abroad I was thrown a great surprise welcome home PIZZA PARTY!

The idea of make your own(MYO) is brilliant. Although there is some prep work that goes into having a Make Your Own _______ Party, the benefits are endless. It provides an activity for your guests to partake in, less overall work for you, you're not busy in the kitchen while your guests are left alone, people feel more important when they are helping, it gets even the shyest person in the world to participate, and my favorite/ most important benifit is that it relieves some of the pressure. If they make a shitty pizza, omelet, ice cream sundae, etc. it's their own fault and you can just pat their backs and offer them another go at it.

This Sunday We had an Oscar party and Eli, my sister, had a bunch of friends over to celebrate and MYO Pizza.
I am not a fan of thick crust pizza so i decided to make mine as thin as possible. My sister made the pizza dough, and sauce all from scratch. That girl is awesome! Since the sauce had a kick to it, I decided to calm it down by balancing it with some store bought pesto. I mixed the two on my thinly rolled crust.

As for toppings I added fresh garlic, sliced tomatoes, basil, and roasted yellow bell peppers. My spin on the margherita I suppose.

Here's a close up of those delicious toppings.

Once the pizza bakes for about 10 minutes I transfer it from the stone level to the rack on top for a few more minutes to get it extra bubbly and crispy.

The finished product was delicious and homemade! Really, it's so much better than delivery.

  1. Your pizza looked and tasted more beautiful than mine, however, mine had a good amount of heart!
